Born May 26, 1934, Louis was raised in Bobtown, Pennsylvania. His parents, Joseph Andrew Michniak and Mary Jane (Wayda) Michniak died when he was a teenager. He later went to live with his beloved Aunt Helen and Uncle John Yucha in Youngsville, PA. There, he became a big brother to cousins Nancy, Tom and Dorothy Yucha. He joined the Air Force after high school because he wanted to see the world. While in the service, he was given the nickname “Mike”. He served our country in Vietnam, Japan and Australia as well as bases in Texas, Virginia, Mississippi, and Florida. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 after 20 years of service. He later worked for Castle Corporation as a technician. After retirement,
He enjoyed fishing, riding his bike through the neighborhood, puttering around in the yard, gardening and growing tomatoes.
Mike leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Diana (Archibald) Michniak, 5 children: Michael (Mary Ann) from Woodbridge, Virginia,
Debbie Smith, from Winston Salem, North Carolina, Pam VanScoy (Ken) from Heathsville, Virginia, Robert Michniak (Daphene), from Orlando, Florida and Kelly (Lee) Rogachesky from Orlando, Florida.
He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mike will be remembered for his hearty laugh, love of Lifetime movies and enjoyment of going out to dinner (as long as he had a coupon!).
