Michael “Mike” Ryan Ray, 64, of Orlando, FL passed away, peacefully, at his home Tuesday, May 18, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.
Born February 2, 1957 in Lansing MI, moved to Miami shortly after, then to Orlando in 1968, where he lived for most of his life. He lived in Cedar Key for a few years, attending high school there, then returned to Orlando. Mike worked in several different fields throughout the years, the last 20 years at the Orlando Citrus Bowl as a Maintenance Mechanic, he loved his job and took great pride in taking part in the prep and painting of the fields for events, they were so good, they were asked to do events outside the Citrus Bowl, like the Grid Iron Classic in Gainesville.
He loved life, family, friends and animals, especially his pets, he enjoyed, Hunting, Fishing, Cooking, playing Trivia, Poker, Cribbage, Pinnacle, Pool, Darts and Golf and was very good at all. He was a good baseball player and could throw the ball from outfield to home plate. When physical limitations started, he took up painting and was very good at that too.
Always willing and ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed, asking nothing in return. Kept his sense of humor to the end, playing practical jokes was another favorite thing to do.
He was in the Army and a lifetime member of the VFW and Fraternal Order of the Eagles 3496, he served as a Trustee for the Eagles, receiving the “Donald Westfall Honorary Eagle of the Year Award” in 2020 for his hard work & dedication to the Club.
Survived by Stepson’s Keith Campbell of St Cloud FL and Kevin Campbell of Deltona FL, Granddaughter Ashely Campbell, Grandsons Keith, JR and Joshua Campbell, Sister Lori Van Hoeck of Orlando, Brother Ed Ray of Owensboro KY, Brother Dave Rich of Orlando FL, Sister-in-Law Fay Ray of Orlando FL and Aunts, Lois and Wilma and many Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 31 years, Carolyn Ray of Orlando FL, Father Bill Ray of Cedar Key FL, Mother Lori McDonnell, Sister Gail Whitstein, Brothers Joe Ray & Carl Ray, all of Orlando FL.

until we meet again.
So rest in peace, Mike, our dear loved one
and thanks for all you’ve done.

the crown you’ve truly won.
