When I think of my Mom, I often think of her as a sculptor. Except her material wasn’t clay or stone it was her children. With much foresight and unwavering commitment she molded us using unbelievable touch and care, love, discipline, and patience. Occasionally, tweaking and adjusting but always chipping away. Through the good and bad, frustrating and exhausting days. And this was a never ending project of my mom’s because she continued this work throughout her life. So, thank up, Mom, for your faith, your courage, your strength, your determination, your admirable purposefulness, and always your unconditional love.

It is hard to believe it's been a year since Pat's death. I loved her dearly. She was such a comfort to me when my mother was sick and for quite  a long time after. I'll always remember Pat's laugh and good cheer. I know she is looking upon her loved ones with hope and faith.

I only got to meet cousin Pat and Jerry once, when they came through Salt Lake City and were kind enough to contact us so we could meet and visit for an evening. It was wonderful getting to know her and figure out our shared family history through the Bests.  I am grateful for the connection we felt and the fun we had visiting for a couple of hours at the hotel restaurant. Jerry, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers, and we share your sense of loss as well as your joy in having known such a fun and loving, caring person.

Cousin Pat - I was so glad to have you engaged and involved in my life.  You always asked about us and truly cared.  I have fond memories of your visit to see us in Germany as well as many times at Bob and Shirley's with the whole family.  You will be missed and always remembered for your warm heart and friendly smile.  Rest now with the Lord until we meet again.  With love, Bruce

Dear Jerry and family,

Janele called me last week with the unexpected and very sad news of Pat's death. Pat was my mother's nursing school roommate; my sisters and I had known of her all of our lives. Pat was always part of my mom's thinking and get-togethers were relatively rare, but always meaningful and cherished. During my mother's last and final illness we were so blessed as a family to meet Pat again. She made all the difference in helping my mother know that she was loved on this earth. Although my mother's diagnosis of pancreatic cancer left very little hope of a cure, Pat was there to make sure Mom was as comfortable as she could possibly be. After Mom's death, I was fortunate to be one of Pat's regular contacts. I always enjoyed laughing with her and chatting about everything from school days with Mom to Pat's recently reorganized sewing room, complete with a copy of Mom's funeral program. Such love and comfort are true gifts from God through his daughters Pat Johnson and Trish Lamphier.

I am truly blessed to have had my Aunt Pat in my life! As I remember our times together during family gatherings and at professional conferences, I'm better because of her love, wisdom and inspiring faith!

Oh how I remember  all the many hours we spent building our Scout float for the Christmas parade. We spent so much time laughing, playing and having the fun of being a family of scouts. When I was first hired in my current full-time position Pat was a steady encouragement to me in several ways. She was kind-hearted and took the time to listen. She made time to come to my work location which was very reassuring. Anytime I called her she either answered or called me back quickly.  I’m so thankful for her invaluable support at a very vulnerable time for me professionally. After she retired we didn’t see each other for a long time until one day we were both at Lowe’s. We stood there and talked together for about 45 minutes. She was very kind to offer an introduction to her daughter for my youngest daughter in regards to schooling. I know that conversation led to my daughter eventually choosing to study audiology. She was a great lady. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Pat has been able to love so much during her life and will continue to love and intercede for us in Heaven.  We all continue to need her love and support: I do! Although we all pain with her loss, I know she is with us.   My mother's loss at a young age drew me more to Pat's special love that a mother can give.  I will miss the simple memories: her homemade cakes , endearing smile and encouragement to do your best.  Pat also provided strong advice and knowledge especially during our Catholic book studies.  
You will always be in my heart.  I will continue to ask for your intercession for guidance and support and love.

Pat was such a lovely person. Anytime I saw her she had a big beautiful smile.
I’ve known her through St Joseph’s church for many years. And watched many of her family grow up.
I’m so sorry for the loss to her very close family.
I’ll keep all of you in my heart and prayers as you go through this time.
I feel so blessed to have known her and called her friend.
She truly was an angel!



The Johnsons are a warm and caring family. Mrs Johnson will be greatly missed.

Every time I think of her puts a smile on my face remembering her big heart and caring nature.

I recall her calling to have me come over on Christmas so that I wouldn’t be alone after my surgery.

Our living example of what Catholic Community is supposed to be. Your constant enthusiasm and generosity is reminiscent of the women who nourished early Catholicism. St. Paul was a success in sharing the word because of many woman like you. Missing you is not an option, however, our joyful, supporting, and devoted sister you filled our lives with miraculous insight that will sustain us during the time we are apart.

Kind, smart, beautiful wife, mother, friend and much loved family member! So happy I had her in my life!

So many years have passed, but I can still remember my next door neighbors.  I still remember as a young child such a sweet Mom that lived next to us.  I often wondered how Mrs Johnson did it with so many kids!!! But I do know how, she was very special. What a great family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you all.  May God hold you in his arms to comfort you at this time and in the future.  God Bless you and know what a special Angel is looking down on you everyday.   

Mama J.... How my heart hurts knowing that this beautiful woman has left us.  I’ve known Mama J, since the 5th grade. She is Grace, Elegance & Faith personified. I always loved her spunk, her spirit, her laugh, her honesty and her ability to  just tell it like it is in her own charming way.. Her love of Family and Faith is what I remember and admired the most when I think of her. She created the most beautiful, loving, unified family along with Papa J. She was everything to everyone and Always there for everyone, Family, friends, strangers, community. Oh and She was most certainly the hostess with the mostest. I always remember the large family gatherings but especially her massive day after Christmas get togethers at her home and how she managed to get everyone together under one roof.  She was the real Facebook, getting everyone together and keeping everyone connected way before Facebook was even a thing. Every year as we’d all drift apart living our lives, she would without fail always find time to write and send us her yearly letters updating us on all that her family had experienced throughout the year. The good the bad the ugly. More generous in spirit you’ll find no other. She was Loved and she Loved beyond measure. A true pillar of strength, any adversities she or her family would face  she’d face it with her fierce faithfulness, calm and composure. She is Grace. She is Love. She was a Gift to be treasured in all of our hearts forever. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. If in the midst of this heartbreaking loss there can be a positive its, knowing that when our Father God gently called her home, that he greeted her with his warm loving embrace. To My Beautiful Sweet Friend Janel, Papa J, Jerry, Mike, James, Spencer and Jeff and the entire Johnson family.. Today and in the days ahead I weep with you.
