

Anne Yelton (Bopp) was born in Kansas City, Kan. She attended Basehor, Kan., grade school. Anne graduated from Ward High School. After graduation, Anne worked at Southwestern Bell Drexel division as a switchboard operator. She also worked for Colgate Palmolive. She passed away February 12, 2015. Anne and Donald Yelton were married in 1944. They established their first home in Kansas City, Mo. They had two sons, Patrick and Michael. The family moved to Merriam, Kan., in 1951, then to Overland Park, Kan. Anne returned to work when her boys started school. She began her career as a secretary for the IRS. She earned promotion to the position of office audit supervisor at the Kansas City, Kan., branch. From there, she transferred to the Bannister office complex as equal opportunity employment officer. She also worked as field officer for the office of surface mining. With a keen mind and a talent for math, Anne completed all accounting classes offered at Rockhurst College and received an associate's degree. Anne volunteered many hours mentoring and training women in the work force on employment interviews resume writing and competitiveness for promotions. Anne received many certifications and awards including the Youth Conservation Corps for training and the Hispanic Employment Program achievement award. Anne served as president of the Pilot Club of Kansas City, Kan., a service organization. Anne was preceded in death by parents, Joseph W. Bopp and Helen Bopp (Hall) and son, Michael Yelton. She leaves her brother, William J. Bopp (Marjorie) of Kansas City, Kan., her son, Patrick Yelton (Rose) of Spring Hill, Kan., five grandchildren, Joseph Yelton (Xuan) of Olathe, Kan., Christopher Yelton of Mission, Kan., Kelly Keogan (Kevin) of Nyack, NY, Jennifer Henry (Kyle) of Dallas, Texas, Valarie Baul of Overland Park, Kan., and 10 great grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, Emma, Alex, Zoe, Andrew, Nicholas, Evelyn and Lauren and two great, great grandchildren, Liam and Ryan. Anne also leaves loved nieces and nephews including Susan Enloe (Rich), Timothy Bopp (Ellen) and long time dear friends, Sharon Yelton, Ann Kowalczyk, Jeni Yelton and Elizabeth Sterbenz. A celebration of Anne's life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel. The family respectfully requests no flowers.
