

Dan Heimer, lovingly known as “Bapa,” 87, Merriam, KS, passed away July 9, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Wednesday, July 13, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st, Overland Park, KS. The rosary will be prayed at 5 PM, with visitation following from 5:30-7 PM, Tuesday, July 12, at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
Dan was born June 3, 1924, in Stacyville, IA. He married Jeanette Colwell on November 22, 1947. Dan fought for our country in WWII during the D-Day invasion on Omaha Beach, France. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his bravery and sacrifice overseas. He was employed by Westinghouse for 40 years. Dan was very involved in his church, Queen of the Holy Rosary.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jan; and is survived by his sister, Agnes Crawford; children: Barbara Buck, Kathy Stegeman, Mary Hawes, Mark Heimer, and their spouses; seven grandchildren and their spouses; two great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Agatha Heimer; and many nieces and nephews.
