This Doug's surprise Birthday Party at Frank and Cheryl's home.

Doug  "Dougie" ...  I can't believe you're gone... I am so deeply saddened...  we have known each other since grade school... we lived just across the street on Glenwood ....we were the only two of those kids on Glenwood who have kept in touch... I so enjoyed and cherished each and every email... you will always be in my heart and sweet memories of our youth ..I loved you my friend.  Dear Christina, David, Steve and Michelle... here's a poem that has brought me comfort and I hope it brings you comfort too.
All Is Well

Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.

Doug, you always brought a smile to everyone around you and was a man we are proud to call friend. Buddy we will always remember the dancing, pool parties , pool games and many great times. I know your up there in heaven looking down. RIP Love you Ed and Louise

Doug was a friend to everyone he knew.  His pleasant personality and smile will be greatly missed.  I am sure he is teaching everyone in heaven the Soc Hop dances that he loved so much.

Only love on my horizon, and now i am free to set sail! much love to you friend!

I grew much closer to my father more than 20 years ago when my mother passed away. It was a realization at the ripe age of 26 that family and friends are the only thing that really matters in life.

We started a tradition where he would come to my place for dinner every Sunday evening. Looking back, the time we spent together meant so much now that he has left us. It was usually his best and most nutritious meal of the week, thanks to Mallika. In fact, Mallika would often send something home with him to repair, and of course, he was happy to oblige.

It was also one of those Sunday evenings a few years ago in which I convinced him to spend money and travel to Bora Bora, a place that he always dreamed of visiting. The photo you see above is taken from Bora Bora. He was always most happy by the water and especially on a boat.

Thanks for helping us learn to sail, even in the short time we knew you we were impressed with your patience, knowledge and ability.  You will be fondly remembered.

My heart is broken. You always brought a light into our lives. You and I go back to 1960 in high school where we had a blast and so so many good times. Being reconnected with the Silvertone gang in our later years made it all complete. Many memories with the gang when Frank played, our road trip through the southwest, our trip to Cape San Blas, pool parties and so on. Thank you for being my friend and there for me so many times. Just like I told you the other night at the hospital, I will look you up when I get there. Love you, Doug.

Captain Doug, we have sailed together in many places and have worked on so many projects together. You will never be forgotten, you were my best friend and sailing buddy. Fair Winds Doug and thank you for everything!

Doug was a long time friend that we met through Jacomo Sailing Club. He will be missed both on the water and ashore.
