Eileen M. Keane

Eileen M. Keane, 94, passed away January 22, 2014 surrounded by family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 W 93 St., Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am at the church. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

Eileen was born on November 15, 1919. She attended St. James Elementary School and graduated from St. Vincent’s Academy. Eileen was a claims examiner for the Kansas City Terminal Railroad and retired after 35 years.

Eileen served as president of the Railway Business Women’s Association. She was a past Regent of the Daughters of Isabella. She had been a member of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, Holy Cross Sunshine Club, and Hibernians.

Eileen enjoyed traveling the U. S. and abroad. She was proud of her Irish heritage and made 10 trips to Ireland.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Nellie Keane; brothers, Joe, Felix and Dutch Keane; sisters, Kate Boos, Cecelia Brull and Marjorie Doyle; and nephews, John Keane and Joe Doyle. She is survived by her sister, Josephine Larman and many nieces and nephews.

Eileen was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt always willing to assist any family member. Eileen had a deep faith and had been an active church member serving as lector and greeter. Eileen will be remembered for her sense of humor, giving spirit and enthusiastic enjoyment of life.
