Elizabeth was born October 12, 1932 to Wallace Stanley Freeburg and Rosa Matthilda (Killer) Freeburg, (m. Dec. 1925) on a ranch near Clayton, New Mexico. She loved growing up on the ranch Clayton, New Mexico. She loved telling stories of life on the ranch and she loved to hear her brother, Brandt, tell his stories on life on the ranch. She hated the rattlesnakes, loved the Herefords, loved her family. And yes, they were poor. They ate well, her mother gardened and canned. She had two dresses and so many stories....
Elizabeth met Marion W. Collins, Jr. at Kansas City College and Bible School in 1952. They were married January 7, 1953 (Marion's birthday) at Gravette, Arkansas by David Tucker. Sidney and the preacher's wife were the witnesses. It was cold, but Elizabeth declined the fire in the stove and was married in her winter coat. they were partners, lovers and friends. They met life head on and were a united front, even through JR's cancer, college, work, Mom's disability with cardiomyopathy and Dad's decline; they were forever, 'until death do us part' kind of committed in love.
On Father's Day, June 15, 1958, Susan Elaine was born, followed by Marion Weaver Collins III "JR" on December 10, 1959. Granddaughters: Jaci Diane Collins Brown, 1984 and Madison Nicole Collins, 1998. Like a daughter, Kelly Cuthbertson.
