Helen Elizabeth Rinehart, daughter of Gregorio Vasquez (Arandas, Mexico) and Maria Velton (Adamus, Romania), passed peacefully at home in her favorite big chair, surrounded by loved ones, on Dec. 1, 2025. Survived by children Lori Maassen, Robert, Joe, Edward (wife Brenda); preceded by Mary. Grandchildren: Aaron & Sam Maassen. Services Dec. 10, 9 a.m., McGilley & Hoge Memorial Chapel, Overland Park; burial 11 a.m., Leavenworth Nat’l Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Disabled Veterans or Wounded Warriors.
Helen devoted decades to restaurant service in the Kansas City area. Orphaned during the Great Depression, she embraced co-workers and patrons as her extended family and cared deeply for each of you.
