

Visitation will be from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM and the memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions to Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas.
Born on January 14, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Julia and Thomas Skirven, she spent her early life in Evanston, Illinois and Chicago, Illinois. At age 21 years, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and married Donald M. Fleming, Sr., to whom she was married for 61 years. In 2008, she moved to Ottawa, Kansas. Her life was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren, for whom she was a constant source of joy and love. She was known for her optimism and her sense of humor, that brightened and enriched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Fleming, Sr., her mother, and father, Julia and Thomas Skirven, and her brothers, William and Thomas Skirven. She is survived by her son Donald Fleming, Jr. and his wife Maria Gatz; her son Allan Fleming and his wife Adela; her grandchildren Craig Fleming, Christopher Fleming, Laurie Birt, Patrick Fleming, Marie Barnett, Michael Schmidt, Sarah Gleaton, Katie Connolly, Kristen Hall, and Kit Connolly; and her great grandchildren Caroline and Charlie Birt, Alex, Ian, and Katherine Fleming, Alyssa and Michael Fleming, Peyton and Samantha Schmidt, and Raymond, Daniel, and Jackson Gleaton.
The family expresses its gratitude to Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas for their kind and skillful care, to Vintage Park Assisted Living in Ottawa, Kansas for the secure and warm home they provided, to Vitas Hospice who made the last days comfortable and peaceful, and to her physician and friend Dr. Bud Ransom.
