Leann Dorothy Parde was born on February 20th, 1934 in Adams, Nebraska to her late parents Heye Parde and Ida Steinblock Parde. She was preceded by her four brothers (Harlan, Leroy, Kenneth, & Dennis Parde) and survived by her sister Arlene Lovitt of Crossville, Tennessee.
As a teenager, after she graduated high school, she left rural life for business college In Kansas City, Missouri. It was there she met Robert Paul Miller, to whom she was married from 1954 until his passing in 1998. They had five daughters, Nancy Summers (Steve), Catherine Rayl (David), Julie Hauber (Jerry), Teresa Mallory (Jim), & Mary van Thullenar (David) and one son, Robert Miller Jr. (Tricia). Leann was grandma to nineteen grandchildren and gigi to twelve great grandchildren.
When Leann wasn’t busy with family, such as hosting a weekly Sunday brunch for her family, she was playing bridge with her many friends from the St. Pius Church community. She also had a love for her flowers and the songbirds in her backyard.
Leann was a beautiful soul and will be missed by all those that had the opportunity to meet and get to know her.
All are welcome to join us in remembering her at visitation services on Wednesday, May 28th from 5pm-7pm at McGilley & Hoge Chapel in Overland Park. In addition, a funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 29th at 10am at St. Pius X Church in Mission, Kansas. A reception will follow at St. Pius X Ken Kelly Hall following the burial services at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
