Linda Marie (Surdez) Stieg, 82, of Mission, KS, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Tell and Frances (McGeeney) Surdez on January 2, 1944, in Kansas City, MO, and lived a life devoted to her Catholic faith, family, and friends.
She attended St. Peter’s Elementary School, Bishop Hogan High School, and Heavilin Beauty School. After retiring as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke’s Hospital and Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Linda cherished her family and supported them through their school, sports, musical, and other activities. Gathering with extended family for holidays brought her immense joy, especially on St. Patrick’s Day. She was a loyal confidante, always willing to listen, share her wisdom, or just offer a shoulder to cry on.
The many friendships Linda made throughout her life continued to flourish through the years. She loved sharing life with her friends, whether traveling, catching a show in Branson, dancing, playing cards, or cheering on her beloved Fighting Irish, Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.
Linda is survived by her husband, Fred Stieg; her children, Allen Stieg (Karen), Laurie Macan (Bob), Shawna Robinson (David) and Brad Stieg (Courtney); grandchildren, Austin Macan, Ryan Macan (Emily), Vicki Robinson, Jordan Robinson, Ashton Stieg, Sophia Stieg, and Olivia Stieg; brother, John Surdez (Ann), sister, Janie Palmer (Bruce); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tell and Frances Surdez; her brother, Jimmy Surdez; and her sister, Mary Ann Aultman.
She will be deeply missed, but the kindness and goodness she brought to this world will endure in the hearts of the lives she touched.
