Michael Patrick O'Neill

Michael was born on December 16, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in Overland Park, Kansas before moving to Westwood, Kansas. Michael was a graduate of Bishop Miege High School in 1976 and attended the University of Kansas from 1976-1977. He was the bar manager of the Americana Hotel and restaurant and bar manager of Embassy Suites Hotel. He worked for Expo Home Décor and Missouri Table & Chair as a retail sales associate. Michael was also a real estate sales associate at Reece Nichols. He was the caregiver for Joseph’s parents, Marilyn and Pat Rohrig, ensuring they had the best quality of life until they passed away. He loved his music. He enjoyed looking at houses and spending time with his dogs, Macee and Lexi. Michael liked watching the Royals, Chiefs and KU basketball.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Ann (Kneib) O’Neill; his little brother, Timothy “Timmy” O’Neill; and his dog, Macee.

Michael is survived by his partner of 37 years, Joseph Rohrig; sisters, Kathleen Maciel, Mary Pat Smith (Matt) and Theresa O’Neill; nieces and nephews, Natalie Maciel (Michael Asher), Emily Sharp (Grant), Ben Smith (Jenn), Bridget Smith (Shawn Maiden) and Ryan Smith (Nikki Vuu); great-nephews and great-niece, Lincoln Asher, Lucas Sharp and Luna Maiden; and his dog, Lexi.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am – 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 26th at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas, with Prayer Service at 10:30 am. Graveside Service will be at 11:30 am on Wednesday, February 26th at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8321 Quivira Road, Lenexa, Kansas 66215. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael’s name would be welcomed to Wayside Waifs, American Stroke Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
