Michael L. Wilson, 72, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 after a long, valiant battle with cancer. A family graveside service will be held Friday, January 29 in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Michael was born August 30, 1948, raised as an only child by his parents, Vernon and Lucille Wilson in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was very fond of Coke floats and often referred to those as his “fat boy” days. He enjoyed his muscle car in high school. He also played sousaphone in the Stillwater High School Band. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. He was stationed in Utapao, Thailand before returning to Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas. He then met and married his wife, Sandra. They had two sons, Jeffrey (deceased) and Chris of Overland Park, Kansas.
Mike worked over 40 years for Black and Veatch as a Mechanical Designer in the Power Division. His early love of working on his cars led to his interest in mechanical engineering and eventually graduating from Oklahoma State University.
Mike had a wonderful sense of humor and was a wonderful husband and father. He loved sports and car racing.
Self-sacrificing, discipline, a good work ethic and always putting family first were values he lived by.
