Blessings to all of Leonard and Pat's family.  I got to know a number of you through my time spent with Leonard (as part of Catholic Charities), and know that he treasured Pat, their children and all of you--so much.

Pat was a very gracious individual.  I was lucky enough to be invited to stay with her and Mr. Haefele in the summer of 1993 while taking summer classes with John.  She welcomed me with open arms.  As I'm sure anyone who visited her can attest she was a great cook.  I always marveled at how quickly an empty kitchen table could be turned into a smorgasbord at a moments notice.  Just when you thought she was finished bringing food out, there was more.  A few times I went out to the driveway to see if there was a foot truck sitting there.  She will be missed.  

The first time I met Pat, my future sister in law, I was a young girl and I thought she was just beautiful!!
Beside the fact that she was always good to me, I remember how she loved the little kids. She played ball with them in the back yard and she danced with them at wedding dances.
And then there was all the food she made. There were lots of choices but I most remember all those desserts. It was hard to choose because there were so many options. 
She was a good lady!

I want to express my prayers and condolences on the death of your mother, Patricia. How well I remember them (your father, Leonard, and mother, Patricia) when I assisted Father Yadrich at St. Paul's in Olathe and, Bill, when you were a student at Savior. God blessed them with 62 years of marriage and five great children. I remember when you were all younger.

The fruit of your parents' marriage and your family has enriched the Church and will continue to do so for years to come. Our Savior days were very special and I came to know families there in a way I did not have the same chance to experience usually in other schools. Bill, thank you always for your leadership at Savior, at Rockhurst University and in the community. You spread your parents' joy and truth and love.

Carol, I remember when you were at St. Mary College, Leavenworth and submitted a design for our Archdiocesan logo on our Coat of Arms. I think of your contribution when I see the two rivers, Missouri and Kansas, meeting here in Kansas City, when I view the Fort Leavenworth Tower recalling we were the Diocese of Leavenworth, the inverted cross signifying the way St. Peter died (Cathedral of St. Peter is the center of the Archdiocese) and the crescent pointing to Mary, who as the Immaculate Conception, is our Archdiocesan Patroness.

May your mother, Patricia, rest in peace, and join your father, Leonard, in our Lord's Kingdom. May God bring peace to all of you in your family.

Your mom and dad were at church together and with family whenever the could be. My condolences to you all and prayers for peace.

Pat and Leonard were in our small faith group some years back at Holy Trinity. We always thought of them as having wisdom and strength in the midst of their challenges. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and we will light a candle in the adoration chapel at HT for Pat.  Don and Kathy Mayer

Phil and I are thinking of all of you during this difficult time.  We have been so blessed to meet the entire Haefele family.  We certainly got to know your Dad very well; only had lunch a few times with your Mother; but, we understand that McDonald's does not offer a home cooked menu and was not her favorite place to eat.  We send our sympathy and hugs to all of you!
