Patricia Haefele passed away on March 8, 2017. Pat was born to Harvey and Josephine Wise on July 18, 1932. She grew up on the family farm on Renner Road in Lenexa, Kansas and attended Holy Trinity School. She met Leonard Haefele on a blind date in January of 1949. Their romance bloomed and they were married on August 22, 1951 and celebrated 62 years of marriage before Leonard’s death in 2014.
Throughout her life, Mom always remained committed to her faith in God and the Church, her family, and service to others. She was a long time member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Altar Society, as well as the Daughters of Isabella.
Her children and grandchildren were always a priority in her life. “Grandma Pat” loved being surrounded by her grandkids and watching their games and recitals. She made sure that holidays were special and there was never a shortage of great food.
Mom enjoyed writing poetry, dancing (particularly when there was a good polka playing) and traveling with Dad in their golden years.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; her parents Harvey and Josephine Wise; her brothers Harvey Wise, Jr. and Charles Wise; and sister Rose Brown. She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses: William (Michele), Carol (Joe Testa), Janet (Rod Corn), Mike (Patty Bennett) and John (Lori); 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother Bob Wise; and sisters Mary Jane Redd and Judy Huskisson.
