Our dear mother, Patricia A. Honas, sadly passed away on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, at 94 yrs of age. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, who was always there when needed. We will miss her.
'Patty' was born and raised in Omaha, NE. She attended Holy Name Catholic School and afterward, went to work for the FBI, in the office. There she met Stephen M. Honas, Jr. They were married and raised four children. Soon after the family moved from Grand Island, NE to Overland Park, KS. She began her career with Sears, in Customer Service. She worked there for 30+ yrs.
Patty loved traveling and had the opportunity to visit Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and England. She also traveled the US, including the island state of Hawaii, visiting family and friends.
Patty was active at Holy Cross Catholic Church, since the move to Overland Park. She participated in Bible Study groups, and took part in scenic trips and other activities with the Seniors Group. She had an hour of Perpetual Adoration devotion for several years, normally late on Friday nights.
Patty was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Stephen M. Honas, Jr.; her eldest daughter, Margaret 'Maggie' Kratz; her younger brothers, James Donahue and Michael Donahue; grandson, William 'Will' Park; and sister, Kathleen Sweetman.
Patty is survived by her children, David (Barbara), Debbie, and Brian (Mary); son-in-law, Mike Kratz; grandchildren, Stephanie (Mike), Chris, Matthew (Charli), Anna (Luke), John (Emily), Andrew (Morgan), Ellen (Edward), and Richard; and great grandchildren, Joey, Stan, Trevor, Kennedi, Miya, Calvin, and Ruby.
A visitation for Patricia "Patty" will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Church of the Holy Cross, 8311 W. 93rd Street, Overland Park, KS 66212, Rosary at 10:30 AM, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Burial in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8321 Quivira Road, Lenexa, KS 66215. Memorial contributions are suggested to Church of the Holy Cross or the American Cancer Society.
Serving as pallbearers are Andrew Makai Honas, Christopher David Honas, Matthew Honas, Trevor Honas, Stan Honas and Luke Ball.
