

Rev. Ralph E. Hansen, Sr., 83 years old, of Overland Park, KS passed away, October 20, 2014. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Friday, October 24, 2014 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30am, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to City Union Mission, 1100 E. 11th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64106.
Mr. Hansen was born February 9, 1931, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ralph graduated from high school in Limon, Colorado in the Spring of 1949. He moved to Kansas City to attend William Jewell College in the Fall of that year. Ralph met and married Dorothy, the love of his life, at Antioch Baptist Church. They were married on December 17, 1950.
He was called to preach at 14 years of age. In his over 60 years of ministry, he served as the pastor of the Mount Nebo Baptist Church, Fifteenth Street Baptist Church, Metropolitan Avenue Baptist Church, South Platte Baptist Church and North Overland Park Baptist Church.
Ralph was a Master Plumber. He owned and operated Hansen Hardware and Plumbing in Kansas City, Missouri. Ralph was also a Committeeman in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Edith (Rowland) Hansen, his son, Ralph Eugene “Gene” Hansen, Jr., his parents, Henry and Thelma Hansen, his sister, Evelyn Seale and his brother Leslie Hansen. He is survived by his children, Vicki Warner, Pam Caldwell, Janie Hansen and Don Hansen, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his brother Paul Hansen.
Ralph loved his family. He was an awesome father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved people and helped anyone in need. He was loved and cherished by his family and friends.
