Raymond Newton Keighley, age 88, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Girard, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 26th at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 pm at the Chapel. Graveside Service will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 27th at the Lone Star Cemetery, 3218 W. Sun City Road, Pretty Prairie, Kansas 67570. The family suggests memorial contributions to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Ray was born on May 4, 1934 in Girard, Kansas to Frank and Zella (Ward) Keighley. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service (1953-1973). He graduated from KU with a Master’s in Business. Ray was an avid traveler, traveling to 5 of the 7 continents with his wife, Sue Keighley. He was an ardent reader. He was a member of the Overland Park Masonic Lodge #436, Abdallah Shrine, and the American Legion Post #370. Ray was a great father and wonderful role model for his children, raising them in Overland Park, Kansas.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, “Sue” Lafawn Warda Lee Keighley; mother, Zella Ward Keighley Shaw; father, Frank Keighley; sisters, Bonnie Adams, Imagene Keighley and Ruth Keighley; and brothers, Herb Keighley, Chester Keighley and Grover Keighley.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Ann Keighley; and sons, Cory William Keighley and Craig Franklin Keighley (Shanon Nichole Keighley); 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
