

Roy J. Frederick, 86, Overland Park, KS, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Overland Park Place. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Friday, March 30 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, KS, 66204. Visitation will precede the Mass from 10-10:45, with the Rosary being prayed at 10:45AM at the church. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Roy was the son of Henry and Sophia Frederick of St. Mary’s, KS. He served as a Tech Sergeant in the US Army and participated in the occupation of Japan. On October 29, 1951, he was married to Marie Miller in Greeley, KS. For 37 years, Roy worked in the US Postal Service, retiring as a supervisor. Roy volunteered at Villa St. Francis for 22 years, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America as an adult leader. He was a very compassionate gentleman—always taking other people’s best interests to heart. He was a 4th Degree Knight, and a life member of Knights of Columbus, having joined in 1944. Roy and Marie enjoyed extensive travels throughout their married life.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, in 2010; his parents; and two brothers: Joseph and Everett Frederick. He is survived by two sons: Neil (Nancy) Frederick, and Larry Frederick; a sister: Bernadette (John) Schumacher; three grandchildren: Christopher (Hiromi), Nicholas, and Jessica (Paul); and a great granddaughter: Sophie Sae.
