Scott Douglas Hoge was born on June 29 1954, Overland Park, KS and died on December 23, 2023 in Bothell WA. He graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1972, and then completed a bachelor’s degree at the University of Kansas in 1977. He married Terri Leigh Bick in August 1976, and they lived in Derby, KS for 15 years before moving to Bothell, WA. He worked for The Boeing Company for 38 years and retired in 2016.
Scott is fondly remembered as a generous spirit, avid sports fan, and dedicated family man. He served his community by coaching the Bothell Cougar junior league football for several seasons, and occasionally little league baseball as well. He could be found cheering for Jayhawks basketball, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Seattle Seahawks, and University of Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars alike. Perhaps his favorite team to root for was the Bothell High School Cougars, and he and Terri supported the team for several years after their children had graduated. Friday night games were nearly always capped off with a meal at their favorite Mexican food restaurant.
Although he lived the latter part of his life in Washington, barbecue cuisine remained his favorite. In addition to trying nearly every BBQ joint in the Seattle area, he owned 2 Big Green Egg grills. He perfected recipes for ribs, ribeye steak, oysters, and chicken thighs on the grill. His mantra was “anything you cook in the kitchen, you can cook on the Big Green Egg.” Scott and Terri enjoyed many day trips exploring the beautiful Puget Sound area.
Scott is survived by his wife, Terri; his daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Brandon Kemperman; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Ashley Hoge; 4 beloved grandchildren; his sister, Anne Sater; and his brother, David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Mary Rae Hoge; and brothers, Sam, Nick, George and Steve.
A private family graveside service will take place in Corinth Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials go the Bothell Cougar Football club at https://www.bothellfootball.net/donations
