Dr. Timothy Driscoll Kennedy was born on January 31, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Jo Ellen Bowers Kennedy and Thomas Driscoll Kennedy. He died on February 20, 2026, after a short illness. Tim was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 43 years, Tudy Bryant Kennedy. He leaves behind his children, Laura Kennedy Gabriel (Jim), and Kevin Driscoll Kennedy; and grandchildren, Sarah (Esther) Kennedy Gabriel, and Daniel Thomas Gabriel, as well as special cousins and many friends and family.
Following his family’s move to Prairie Village, Kansas, in the 1950s, Tim attended St. Ann’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1960. He attended The University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and chemistry in 1964. Tim was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Upon graduation, he started his studies at The University of Kansas School of Medicine and received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1968. Tim was admitted to the American Board of Radiology in 1976 and practiced Radiology for the entirety of his career, specializing in nuclear medicine and interventional radiology. He helped save or improve countless lives during his time as a doctor. He especially loved teaching medical students or anyone who showed an interest in medicine. Friends and family frequently remarked that Tim’s greatest gift was being an educator. He loved teaching about the practice of radiology, or his varied interests in science, mathematics, world travel, astronomy, and more. Tim also loved traveling and carefully designed incredible trips every year. He introduced his kids, son-in-law, and grandchildren to the joys of travel,
greatly enriching their lives. One of Tim’s other passions was running. He completed two marathons and countless other charity races.
In June of 1966, Tim married Eileen Duggan while they both were still in medical school. Their daughter Laura was born one year later, and son Kevin was born in 1970 while Tim was serving in the military in South Korea during the Vietnam War. Their marriage ended in the late 1970s, but he remained an active and involved father to his two kids, never wanting to be apart from them for more than a few days. On Valentine’s Day in 1980, he married Tudy Bryant. Their long and happy marriage was marked by frequent trips around the world, fun times with their many friends, and lots of time with family. When Tudy died suddenly in 2022, Tim never truly recovered. We remember him as a wonderful person who loved his friends and family fiercely and never stopped wanting to learn new things. He will be deeply missed.
