To the younger athletes on the KSU track team, Tim was an example of someone who personified dedication and put in the kind of  hard work accomplishment requires. It's touching to see how his life and family turned out. I'm sorry that his friends lost him while he was still young. My condolences to his family.

Dear Porter Family,
I just learned of Tim's passing and I am so sorry for your loss. Tim and i both lived at the A-Dorm at KSU and became good friends. After graduation we re-connnected in KC and played alot of Softball together,( Tim was VERY GOOD), but when you kids started playing sports your games always had priority. We did'nt see much of our clean up hitter again. 
Tim and all of you will be in my prayers.

Tim grew up with my older brothers.  He learned I was throwing the Javelin in high school, and offered to help me.  He would come out after track practice or on weekends to work with me.  It was pretty cool working with the SM West record holder (at the time)- I was also attending West.  While he was the key reason I had some success with the Javelin, more than anything he taught me a lot about dedication and hard work.  There were just a handful of people who really had an impact on me in high school, and Tim was one of those people - I learned a lot more than just how to throw the Javelin from him.  He was a great guy - I am very sorry for your loss.

Porter Family, i'm so sorry i missed Tim's funeral. He was such a big teddy bear.  He was so full of life and he brighten my day when i saw that big smile at soccer games. I only knew Tim during the Tiger baseball years. We had great times in Omaha and Hutch. I'll never forget the year we came in 2nd. in the world series in Omaha and 4th in the nation in Hutch. I'm praying for the Porter Family. GOD BLESS YOU.

My deepest sympathy to all of you  during this difficult time.  I just learned tonight that Tim had past away.   I am very sad to hear of your loss and after reading all of the entries from everyone that ever knew Tim, you can tell how much he meant to everyone.

I competed with Tim in the javelin at K State as well.  We spent many days together working out and throwing that crazy spear.  Tim affected so many peoples lives in such a positive way that I can not even begin to tell you.

Dear Evie and children,
Tim called on me at W. Evans Co. for many years.  Tim actually took my place at H. J. Cole. We struck up, not only a good relationship, but a very good friendship.  With his wonderful personality, you couldn't help but admire him.  He knew my youngest son went to K-State, and that was always a good way to start our conversations.
Ronnie Mills has been calling me from AZ. the past couple of years to keep me up on Tim's condition. Ronnie just called last Wednesday to tell me Hospice had been called in, and then on Friday to tell me Tim had passed.  
Tim was a great man and will be sorely missed by many.

You have our sincere sympathy, and you are definitely in our prayers.  We were so blessed to be a part of Tim's life.  

We wish to share a few thoughts with your guestbook friends:
My friendship with Tim began when we threw the javelin together on the K-State Track Team, but we also enjoyed time together hunting.  When finding out that Tim had enjoyed coonhunting with his Grandpa, I invited him (and also other track team members) to go out on hunts during our college years. Those hunts made for some good story telling!

We stayed in contact after college, and saw each other occasionally. At age 40 when I began masters javelin competition, our family was to fly out of KCI for the National Masters T&F Championships. Tim invited our family of five to spend the night before in his home and insisted on taking us to the airport the next morning.  That was just a couple months before he married the love of his life, Evie, and he was beaming and so excited about their future!

A couple of years later when our two oldest children threw the javelin for Johnson County Community College, Tim and Evie opened up their bustling and growing home to our children, and as many friends as they wanted to bring into their home.  Chris and Sarah so enjoyed their "home away from home", and playing with the little Porter children.  Tim's wonderful fatherly advice during those impressionable college years greatly impacted our children, and we are so thankful to him and you, Evie, for your encouragement in their lives.

Tim's influence in our family's lives continues, and will probably be passed down to our grandchildren by their parents.  Thank you, Tim.

I'm sad to hear about Tim.  We were competitors during the 1970s and 80s in the store supply business in Kansas City but away from work in the Allied Food Club, we were friends.  My sympathy to his family.

It was my privilege to be TJ's (Tim's) secretary at Cole Harford.  We had so much fun while still getting the work done.  I was also privy to when Tim met Evie and was witness to their deep love for one another.  I have not met Kelsey, T.J., Regan, and Paige, but I know how proud your parents are of you.
