Timothy James Porter, 57, of Lenexa, KS, passed on peacefully on October 22, 2010. Tim was born on October 12, 1953, at Bell Hospital in Kansas City, KS. He grew up in Overland Park, KS, and attended Shawnee Mission West High School from 1969 to 1971. He became a state champion throwing the javelin in 1971 and went on to throw at Kansas State University from 1971 through 1975. Tim took great pride in being chosen captain for his senior year at K-State.
He went to work for H. J. Cole, where he enjoyed a 25-year career as a manufacturer's representative. Tim started his own company, TJP & Associates in February 2000. Some of Tim's many accomplishments were serving as a past President of the Allied Food Club and President of the Corinth Cemetery Association.
Tim's greatest pride and joy were his four children. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, basketball, and football, and being a loyal spectator at soccer, volleyball, track, and cheerleading events. He felt blessed to have his children Kelsey, T.J., Regan, and Paige, all of the home. Tim treasured his marriage, of over 22 years to Evelyn (Regan) Porter, his best friend and love of his life. They were married on September 23, 1988, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS.
Tim leaves behind his brother, Thomas Daniel Porter; and father and stepmother of Olathe, KS. One of Tim's favorite sayings was "to treat your family like friends and your friends like family." That really rang true with his hunting partners. He enjoyed countless happy days in the fields and duck blinds with his dearest friends and children. Tim also enjoyed spending time with his family, using his season tickets at the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs games.
