

William "Wildhorse" Ackerman passed away peacefully on September 29th, 2015 in Overland Park. He was 77 years old. Bill was born July 6th 1938 in Clinton, Missouri. Ackerman served in the Navy, and achieved his Pilot's License in 1966. He worked in Sales for many years, until he opened "Wildhorses Bar" in Martin City in 1982. In 1997, Ackerman and his wife Barbara founded "Sunrise Courier." They were married in Las Vegas in 1960.
Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn; parents, Bill Sr, and Erma Louise; and his stepmother, Gertrude Ackerman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Tamara and Ed Maichel; daughter, Nancy Bradford; daughter, Linda Ackerman; and son, Jason Ackerman...who Wildhorse affectionately would call "Jay Bird." Mr. Ackerman also leaves behind grandchildren, Jeremy, Candice Bryan and her husband, Clint, and Steven. His great granddaughter Mya might have been the second love of his life. Bill Ackerman loved the Missouri Tigers, and he loved animals.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 1-2 pm followed by a 2 pm Memorial Service at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 12501 W. 137th Street, Overland Park, KS.
