

Maj. James Raymond Prince USAF (RET), age 86 of Oviedo, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016. He was born August 3, 1929 in Portsmouth, Ohio and raised in Ashland, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father, Hurston Prince and his mother, Eva Conway Prince. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and rose to the rank of Major as a pilot who served with distinction in Viet Nam during that war. He returned stateside when he was notified that his wife of 15 years, Mary, had suffered a fatal heart attack and left him with three young boys. Eventually he met and married Antonia (Toni) and she helped him raise the boys. They were married for 26 years before she succumbed to cancer. When he retired from the USAF after 20 years, they moved to Orlando where he took a position with the Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer and eventually retired from there also. In 1996 he met his present wife and they were married for over 19 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred (Millie); sons, James William (Ann); John Steven (Leeann); and David Allen (Lorien) and stepchildren Robert R Cortes (Lucy), Linda A. Cortes, and Michael J. Cortes; siblings, Donald O Prince (Janet) and Joyce Ann Gussler (Lee) of Lexington, KY; sister in law, Linda R Janelle and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends; nine grandchildren: Ashley Prince Stone (Craig), Wesley A, John M, and Jessica L. and step grandchildren: Jessica DeSosa, Jacob and Christian Cortes, Carlo Rosado and Gigi Kianes. A Visitation will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 4-6 PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, Oviedo Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 PM Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando.
