Jim grew up in Pueblo CO and joined the Air Force after graduating high school. After his service, he returned to Pueblo where he met Pam working at his mom’s restaurant. They married in 1968, and not long after, Jim started working for Boeing that lead to his career as an electrical engineer for Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin). Jim would always move to where his company needed him whether it was in Colorado, Florida, and even Germany. While on the job, he continued his education and received his bachelors degree. He also received recognition and awards throughout his career and happily retired 20 years ago.
Jim loved the mountains, fishing, hiking, and his yard. He was a true outdoorsman. Everyone in the neighborhood would stop and talk to him as he was working on something in his yard. He loved the family cabin in Colorado and helped open it up for the summer for many years. Jim was a diehard Denver Broncos fan and attended several games.
Most importantly, Jim loved and would do anything for his family. Those he considered family were treated like his own children. Kyla, Asha, Tamaa, Nicole, and Mitch added more joy into his life. Pam and Jim would babysit any baby they knew through friends and family. He loved rocking them to sleep and he and the baby would both nap. This started with Bryce who he considered his first grandchild. His granddaughter stole his heart and could make Papa do anything. His last morning he made Ellie breakfast and they chatted a while. He always loved when Ellie spent the weekend.
Jim was a quiet, intelligent man. He had a unique sense of humor that you would miss if you weren’t paying attention. He listened to old country music and watched old westerns.
