
Jerry Scott Morey, beloved husband, brother, father, Grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 29th 2024. Jerry was born February 17,1948 to the late Wesley and Pauline Morey in Hillsdale, Michigan and grew up in Miami, Florida.
A true Floridian and an outdoorsman at heart, Jerry found solace in spending time in nature, scanning the local waters and landscape to catch fish, lobsters, scallops, “space puppies” and birds. Jerry loved the true authentic parts of Florida, from the vibrant corals and sea turtles to the birds and his favorite the beautiful sunrises.
Jerry’s passion for sportsmanship was matched only by his frequent burning of boat motors, catching “debroah” and putting stickers on his kid’s cars that say “horn broken, watch for finger.”
He found a special love for life in his wife, Dotty, and creating hir unique pieces of jewelry with some of his favorite stones, turquoise. He became an active member of the Artisans community and loved spending time with his wife at every art show. Jerry was an active member of the Shrine Temple and the Elks and sat on the board of Priority Credit Union.
Jerry’s jovial spirit and love for life was evident in every moment spent with him. His laughter and jokes were contagious and his presence will be missed greatly by his family and friends. He was a man who loved the simple joys of sharing a joke with friends, riding on his Cushman scooters, traveling with his wife and cheering on his favorite football team, the Florida Gators.
Jerry’s academic journey was one of his many accomplishments. He began his education at Southwest Miami High School where he played varsity football and loved water skiing on Biscayne Bay. He joined Beta Theta Pi while at University of Florida where he mad life-long friends.
Jerry served in the United States Air Force in the Strategic Air Command, where he achieved the rank of Captain flying C-135 refueling planes in Vietnam. He was a proud patriot and member of the armed forces.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Dotty, his brother Greg, his children, Amanda and Chance, his grandchildren, Paisley, Cooper and Hunter and a community that will forever be grateful for his presence in their lives. He leaves behind a legacy of love, fun and a deep appreciation for the simple joys hat life has to offer.
May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who know and love him. Jerry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 4-7 pm at the Bahi Shrine located at 3101 E Semoran Blvd. Apopka, FL 32750.
A celebration of life service with military honors will be held at 11:30 on August 1, 2024 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1, Mims, Florida 32725.
