

Mary Kathryn Cassidy Bolton age 94, was born on January 11, 1921 in Salem, Indiana, grew up in Louisville Kentucky and is one of 10 brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving child of William Shelby Cassidy and Etter Matilda Depew. She is survived by her son, Brian Bolton, his wife, Virginia Bolton, and her grandchildren, Kevin Bolton and Kelly Bolton. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews living in various states including Indiana and Kentucky. Mary Bolton was predeceased by her husband, Boyce Bolton, who passed away in 2006. Mary attended nursing school at St. Anthony's in Louisville Kentucky. Mary joined the Army serving from 1944-1946 as a 2nd Lieutenant and nurse during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. She cared for many wounded and dying soldiers during the time she served. She was on the island of Tinian at the time the atomic bomb was launched from that island against Japan. She was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon and the Victory Medal Ribbon WW II each with one bronze star. After the war, she dedicated her life to serving those who were ill practicing as a registered nurse in Miami, Florida until her retirement. She was a devout Presbyterian and served the church including as a Sunday School teacher. She will be remembered as a faithful Christian with a strong will to help those who were ill and in need. Visitation will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, Oviedo Chapel. A Funeral will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 700 Rinehart Rd., Lake Mary, Florida 32746.
