Barry O'Donovan

Barry Thomas O’Donovan was born January 30, 1952 in Portland, Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Francis O’Donovan and Phyllis Helen Crocker O’Donovan, as well as two of his brothers, Timothy Patrick O’Donovan and Dennis Lee O’Donovan. He is survived by his brothers, Alan Wayne O’Donovan of Montana, Paul Phillip O’Donovan of California, Kevin Peter O’Donovan of Arizona, and his sisters Judy Karen House and Charlene Frances Hogan both of California. He is also survived by his five nieces, Heather O’Donovan-Marz, Erin Boyd, Jennifer House, Kendra O’Donovan-Dye, and Kelly O’Donovan-Carlson.

Barry was about two years old when they family moved from Maine to California. He was always a storyteller and very curious. When he was about three or four on wash day he’d go around and collect the neighborhood gossip and bring it back to his mother. His siblings called him the walking encyclopedia because he always knew something about any subject that came up. Barry was a man of many interests and hobbies. As a young adult attending community college, he was a class or two away from about five different majors. Ultimately, he chose aviation as his career in part because he fell in love with it when he was a helicopter mechanic in Korea. He was a mechanic for many different commuter airlines from Golden West to Wings West to various other airlines under the American Airlines umbrella and ultimately Envoy where he had a large work family.

Barry loved music, fishing, reading, riding his Harley, and playing his guitars. Barry was a storyteller, a jokester, a mentor, a debater, a mechanic, and a great friend, brother and uncle. He will be tremendously missed by all those that loved him.
