

Pebble Beach ~ Frances McLennan, born in Loma Linda, California, passed away just 20 days short of her 97th birthday. Frances was raised on a farm in Loma Linda and graduated with a RN degree from White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles.
Frances had a love of her family, travel, adventure, golf, music, games and animals. For many years, Frances was very active in community and church activities, including the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Assistance League of Downey, California and the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. A gifted organist, she often accompanied her husband as he sang.
Frances and her husband, Bob, enjoyed playing golf and particularly their time at the Hacienda Golf Club in La Habra Heights, California and the Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Always competitive, at age 95 Frances played in the “Generation Golf Tournament” at MPCC with her three children, Twyla, Doug and Lee.
Following her husband’s retirement as a physician, he became a member of the California State legislature in the 1970s. Frances enjoyed time with Bob while he served as a State Assemblyman in Sacramento, their relationship with then-Governor Ronald Reagan and her husband’s success in getting the “early pensions” retirement repealed. After the special session voted to pass Bob’s bill, Governor Reagan came to Bob’s home district in Downey, California to sign the legislation in to law.
Frances is survived by her children: Twyla (Ralph) Thompson and their children, Chandra, Tressa and Robert; Doug (Linda) McLennan and their children, Shawn and Summer; and Lee (Patty) McLennan, MD and their children, Robert, Ryan and Chad and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert M. McLennan, MD in 1983 and her son, Robert McLennan who passed away at the age of 14. The Robert McLennan Memorial Golf Tournament at Hacienda Golf Club and a Scholarship Fund at Downey High School were established in his memory.
At Frances’ request, there will be no services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the donor’s favorite charity.
