

Dan was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 29, 1947, to Elmer and Frances Gentry. He was the oldest of four children.
He was the valedictorian of Madison heights High School and was the first of his family to go to college. He successfully earned a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970 followed by an MBA from Harvard University in 1979. He moved to California in 1979 to start his career in the technology industry. He retired from Intevac.
He loved playing tennis and golf and was successful at everything he tried.
In 1972, he married Lynda "Pixie" Gentry. He was a loving husband and father with three children, Elizabeth, Jessica, and Stephen Gentry. The joy of his life was his four grandchildren: Aliyah, Layla, Eli and Lorelei, who all loved him dearly.
His humor and generosity will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
