When we moved into Space 5 of Montevalle, right across the street from Deede and Robert, Deede welcomed us so very warmly!  She was kind, funny, helpful...everything wonderful all rolled into one. Whenever we left our place to head south to our winter home, Deede took charge.  She had our housekey and she made sure Space 5 was safe and secure.  Deede was a mover and a shaker with the Montevalle folks.  She ran a tight ship and didn't take guff from nobody.  I loved Deede like a mom.  May Deede rest in peace.

Aunt Deede was my mom #2 and was always joking with my mom that she had an inkling to move up on that list.  Considered a full fledged family member, Aunt Deede seemed to forever find the fun in life.  Her laugh will always ring in my memory.  And after a long journey, the last army man in her table is now home, rest well. 

Aunt Deede was my mom's best friend and we met when I was 7. She was my babysitter, my Camp Fire Leader, my confidant and my second mom - the one that let me do things my other mom wouldn't! I could tell her anything and count on her to give advice that was straightforward and without judgement. She accepted me and loved me unconditionally. Time could go by but when we got together we picked up where we left off. She was game for anything. She tried to steal my hat, my jewelry, my beer and my brother! She made me laugh. Made me smile. Made me believe all was right with the world. I will remember the joy she shared with me, her resilience and strength. I will always keep her love inside me. 

My wonderful Aunt Deede  has played a very special part throughout my entire life. She was always fun, interesting, curious, a bit of a maverick, and always interested in all of us cousins. She encouraged all of us to reach for the sky, always saying if we could think it we could do it. I remember one very special moment with Aunt Deede, at my husband, Bryan, and my wedding reception on the pool deck of the Stout cabin. She went up to Bryan, sat down next to him, and said - talk to me, tell me everything! That was Deede all over, always welcoming and bringing a new member of the family into her embrace. My husband adored her because she was just always so cheery and like a merry Aunty to him too.  Another moment to treasure one summer when I came home from London where we lived at the time - she and Bob came to dinner at my friend, Jamie's near Felton. And we laughed and laughed and laughed the entire evening - she had us in stitches the whole night. I will always remember, as does Bryan, her wonderful, gorgeous Thompson smile, which would cheer up the world.  We will miss and always treasure you, my wonderful Aunt. 

Your love for my father Bob, brought you to our family. Your caring and devotion to us made you a mother and grandmother. 
Forever grateful for you coming into out lives and the many wonderful memories to now hold in our hearts and cherish.

That big smile, red hair, and warm hug will always be missed. I have such fond memories of our holidays together.

I miss my Aunt Deede and love her so much. I remember when the sisters would gather for a visit in Monterey at Mom’s (Elinor Brown). They all loved telling stories that were generally based on memories. Deede would share something about an event  and all the other sisters would laugh and tell her she wasn’t remembering it right or she wasn’t  even there for that event. Everyone had fun with the teasing particularly any of the cousins hanging around. Just proved that the Thompson sisters are a wee bit crazy. But they are loved by everyone who meets them. I hope that Mom & Deede  are hanging around in heaven preparing for the big family reunion. I love you Deede ❤️

Aunt Deede was a wonderful friend! She was so full of life and light. Her smile lit up the room and her gracious manner made everyone feel welcome. I met her as a child when I was in Camp Fire Girls. She was my sister's leader but we shared many experiences together. Especially fun were the times we went to her cabin! Her daughter Lynda and I became best friends so I was lucky enough to spend wonderful times with her when visiting Lynda. Aunt Deede and I got to know each other well and became quite close in later years. Her life had it's challenges but she met them with dignity and grace. We loved to laugh together! Aunt Deede was a rare, loving, talented gem devoted to her family and she will be greatly missed. I love you Aunt Deede.

I was her older sister. I loved her very much. I helped raise her. I helped her learn how to ride my bike. Then she used to steal my bike all the time for me. She was so good to other people. She was always helping people in need.KU I will miss her.

From the time we moved to Placentia and all through my childhood 1964-73, “Aunt” Deede was a part of my life. She and my mom shared many adventures, meals , parties and mischief. She made many cakes for our birthdays and was a second mother to my sister and I, but especially to my brother when he was very young. She took us to see Mary Poppins and Help and got us involved in a midweek church program. Strong memories fill my mind of those early days. I was so glad to spend time with her last March to celebrate Mary and Tina’s birthday and St. Patrick’s Day together.

Deede was a good friend from high school days in Pacific Grove.
So sorry to hear of her passing.   Deede was so much fun.   I have very fond memories of her.  Joyce Finch.  In high school I was Joyce Crummey
