During the Korean War, Don was drafted into the US Army, serving overseas as a Military Police Office. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Following his tour of duty, Don went to work for Occidental Petroleum. He later moved to Simplot Chemical Company establishing their overseas divisions, traveling around the world working with golf courses while maintaining residence in the Bay Area.
Don made many good friends in Hawaii, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe as well as the United States. Upon his retirement, he and Delberta moved to Carmel. Don’s greatest pleasure was the time he spent with family and friends. He was a gentle, kindhearted man with great integrity and was loved by all. We will miss his strength, guidance, wisdom and love.
