Dorothy Ann Snowden Darling

Monterey ~ Dorothy S. Darling, born in Pacific Grove on April 12, 1921, died at Ave Maria Convalescent Hospital on May 10. Though she is a life-long Peninsula resident, her parents emigrated from England on the Lusitania in 1911.

Dorothy was a graduate of Monterey High School and Hartnell College. During World War II, she worked as a clerk-typist at Ft. Ord. Her greatest pleasure came from enjoying the flora and fauna that flourished around her home of 85 years on a hill overlooking Monterey Bay.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, William (Darlene) of Reno and John (Pamela) of Salinas; her grandchildren, Ryan and Deanna Darling and Jeremiah (Patti) Brouhard and four great-grandchildren. Her husband of 58 years, Gordon, preceded her in death in 1999.
