February 6, 1929 ~ May 10, 2013
Salinas ~ George R. Ledford passed away at his home on May 10th. Born in San Diego on February 6, 1929, he was a humble Army veteran of World War II. George enjoyed a long career with Hormel which brought him the Peninsula in 1972 after many memorable years in Visalia, CA.
George had a passion for golf, which he shared with his sons, and, upon his retirement, spent time as a Marshall at Poppy Hills. His extremely witty and spontaneous sense of humor kept everyone around him laughing. He has left behind cherished lifelong friends. We will miss his sincere compassion, his endearing smile and all the love he surrounded us with.
George was a devoted husband to his wife, Diane, for 61 years until her passing in 2011. A generous, nurturing father, he is survived by his children, Calvin (Terri) Ledford of Salinas, Kathleen (Michael) Mottin of Coarsegold and Christopher (Suzette) Ledford of San Diego along with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 205 S. Main, Ste. 201. Salinas, 93901.
