Greg’s love of life did not come to an end when he went to his heavenly home. He passed away on September 24, 2023, at the age of 64. His battle with his health in the past 14 years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with determination, unconditional love, and a smile. His loved ones will honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest and continuing the love of life he instilled in each of them. Greg’s pride and joy were in his family, and he shared his love for them with every person he met over the years.
He loved his Country and being a protector of its people. He put that love into action by enlisting into the United States Army at just 18 years old, where he served on our soil, as well as, foreign soil, discharging honorably as a Sergeant (Sgt) in 1992.
The simplest pleasures brought Greg happiness. He loved racing cars, and attending car shows. He was a lover of sports, with his favorite team being the “Lakers,” the “49er’s,” and most recently the “Warriors.” He loved music, dancing to his favorite, which was “Michael Jackson.” He was skilled in pencil sketching, and he was a collector of tennis shoes and Invicta watches. He loved Disneyland and was happy to take on the largest roller coaster in the park.
He loved to hang out with family and friends, imparting his wisdom and knowledge from time to time; like, “common sense ain’t so common.” He enjoyed spending time with his sister-in-law, Debbie, whom he loved dearly. He loved the quite serenity of his home where he would watch movies and dance with his lovely Queen, while cherishing deeply the quality time spent with their Prince.
During his last hospital stay Greg confirmed with his Spiritual Brother, Pastor Anthony, that he accepted, loved, and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolf Tyler, and Valerie Johnson. Greg is survived by his wife Karyn L. Johnson; his Son, Matthew G. Johnson, and their three god-children, and his brothers Robert and KC, and his spiritual brothers, Anthony and Frank. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and numerous relatives and friends.
He will be missed by all who know him.
