Three things that are great memories for me of the time Jane and I spent together years ago:
After we met as co-workers at Agnews, Jane and I found we were good cohorts for little adventures. Some time after she moved to CCL, she got assigned to the territory that included Monterey/San Benito County.  She was really pleased, and was vaguely cobbling together a new plan... She tagged me one Saturday early on, we left San Jose and travelled to Monterey, "just to have a look around".  I still remember meandering down the way to Pacific Grove, going in to a small diner & "just checking" the local classifieds.  We circled some rental ads while we were at it. That lead to driving up & down, around & through the neighborhoods of Pacific Grove on a reconnaissance mission.  We were able to contact the owner of one of the rentals  & toured a small cottage - that was IT for Jane!  She filled out an application, was approved to be the new tenant that day, and never looked back.  We were BOTH so excited on the way home - her dream of living at the beach was going to be real, and I thought she had taken a big leap of faith, somewhat contrary to her love of order, sense of propriety, and tendency to want to plan EVERYTHING to a tee (echoes of her dad?!?).
Jane was devastated when her Mom was diagnosed w/ cancer, and then again & more when it returned. Over those years, my dad was diagnosed with mesothelioma, incurable  lung cancer caused (in his case) by exposure to asbestos in his past.  I was shocked & in denial, then exhausted and really sad for a long while before & after he passed.  Jane was very kind to me, inviting me to the beach, having girly weekends, and providing some relief from watching my Dad decline slowly & knowing there was nothing I - or anyone else- was going to be able to do about it. 
Last but not least, Jane was a generous friend.  She handed me a glorious experience and one of my ALL-TIME favorite memories to this day.  I don't recall exactly how it came about, but Jane invited me to accompany her to Las Vegas to see Barbra Streisand sing after Barbra had retired from public performances several years earlier (her FIRST comeback of many as of this writing!) I also don't know how far down the list of possible companions I was, but when she asked, I was gob-smacked - and we got flights & accommodations booked right away to go.  Our show tickets were VIP access. Suffice to say we were in the celebrity pre-party lounge when Michael Jackson came through with his entourage on the way to his block of seats.  My favorite sighting that night was Gregory Peck (w/wife on his arm) - the ultimate  Hollywood icon and incredibly handsome older man. Barbra was fab & radiant, her orchestra (Nelson Riddle?) was superb and I felt like atttending the performance was a total privilege. After the show, we stayed up all night. Jane did a little gambling while I was a zombie pulling the old-school slot handles, sure my huge jackpot was just a "cherry" away.  All around, a special time & place.  Thanks again, Jane.

Dear Pat, Nancy & Mary Beth, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. You have my thoughts, prayers, love and sympathy along with some hugs. I mostly still remember you all as the Ross girls from Kolln St. I hope our paths cross again soon.

Dear Pat, Nancy, Mary Beth, and Jane's dear daughters,
My mother called me on Friday night to tell me that she saw Jane's obituary in the paper.  To say that I was shocked and saddened would be an understatement. I was so upset that I had missed her service.
Jane was one of my closest friends in high school.  She was shy, quiet, intelligent, but once she let you into her heart, she opened up.  You could always count on Jane to be there for you, she was such a good listener and so loyal. She also loved to have a good time and to laugh! She was a gentle soul, a caretaker, and a great friend. She made a difference in people's lives, and that is all that we can ask of life.  I am so incredibly sad that she is gone too soon.  
She knew my husband Chuck and they too were friends.  I know that he was one of the many that was there to welcome her to the other side.  Give her a hug for me, Chuck, and tell her how she will be in my heart for the rest of my life. 
To all of Jane's sisters, daughters and family, my heart is with you, I am praying for you, and I send my deepest sympathies.  You have indeed suffered a tremendous loss.  I pray that the good memories will overtake the sad ones soon.
