Carmel - Kay passed away on January 21, 2014. She was born on February 2, 1931 to William and Katherine Penney in St. Louis, Missouri.
Kay grew up in Clayton, Missouri and graduated from Clayton High School. She attended William Woods College where she met James Bower. She then transferred and graduated from Washington University in St Louis, Missouri where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
In 1954 Kay and Jim were married. They moved several times, finally settling in Southern California in 1966.
In 1991, after living in the Bay Area, Kay and Jim moved to the Monterey Peninsula.
Kay lost Jim to cancer in 1997. Kay married Bill Sisk in 1999. She continued to live in Carmel with Bill until his death in 2011. Kay was a member of the Carmel Foundation and the Beach and Tennis Club. She enjoyed painting, taking walks on the beach and being a part of the Carmel-by-the-Sea community.
Kay is survived by her two daughters, Penney Gaines (Bill) and Katie Bergerson (John) and her four grandchildren, Emily, Bill,Kari and James, as well as her brother William Penney, Jr..
The family would liked to thank Dr. Paul Tocchet, the staff at Ave Maria and the staff of Hospice of Central Coast for the kind and compassionate care they provided to our mother. We will always be grateful.
Pursuant to Kay's request there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Central Coast.
