Marilyn Hope Norman, 4 weeks shy of 97 years old, left this world on July 2, 2024. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn, the youngest of 6 children, was born in Beverly Massachusetts on August 2, 1927, to Harry and Mina Snow. She resided there until she was 23 years old, in 1950, where she moved to live with her late sister Florence in Monterey, CA. At this residence is where she met her late husband Chet Norman who she married in 1950. They went onto having 3 children, John Thomas Norman (1951), Tammy Louise Reid (1959) of Salinas, CA and Tracy Lynn Corbett (1960) of Reno, NV. She raised her children in Pacific Grove, then her husband and her built a home in Pebble Beach where she resided until the late 1990’s. She moved to Reno, NV, where she lived for 18 years, until she moved in with her daughter Tammy in Salinas in 2018. Tammy was the primary caretaker for Marilyn until her passing.
In her younger years, she was an amazing housewife and bookkeeper for her husband's construction business, Grove Construction, and later went on to caretaking for the elderly. She was an amazing artist who had many hobbies, gardening, painting woodworking, etc. She made redwood tables and other items from driftwood pieces found along the peninsula beaches. In addition, she had a love for painting beautiful pieces of artwork using oils and acrylics.
Marilyn was loved by many and had strong relationships with all her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a true matriarch of the family always bringing everyone together for the holidays and hosting events in her home. She had a hilarious and witty sense of humor, always making her family and friends smile and laugh. She always found the good in any situation and was such a strong hearted woman.
Marilyn is preceded in death and rejoins her late husband Chet Norman (1988), her son John Norman (1995), and former son in law Brian Reid (2020). She is survived by and lovingly remembered by her daughters Tammy Reid and Tracy Corbett, her six grandchildren, Johnny Norman, Colby Reid, Melanie Corbett, Shana Corbett, Lindsay Avila and Brandon Reid, and her eleven great grandchildren whom she adored.
