Robert was born on December 19th, 1961 to Richard Lenwood Gallion and Judy Joyce Gallion (Navarro). He was born in Japan where his father was stationed with the US Navy. Robert grew up in Monterey and enjoyed the beaches and cooking. He followed his passion for the culinary arts, learned from the best chefs in Monterey and earned the prestigious title of Executive Chef. Robert’s special clam chowder recipe became a staple at a well-known establishment in Monterey. He was a walking miracle after suffering a traumatic brain injury in 2006. He liked to joke that he was a “robo-man” after having metal plates in his head and surgeries to fix his shoulder. He was a kind person with a big heart, and he loved animals.
Robert is preceded in death by both of his parents, Judy and Richard Gallion. He is survived by his caring partner of 10 years, Kathleen Oldham; his four children: Christal Gallion, Jessica Gallion, Robert Gallion, and Matthew Gallion; his grandchildren, Charlie Vincent and Josiah Gallion; the mother of his children and friend, Dorothy Bolin; his brother James Gallion; as well as his extended family: Dennis Bybee, Jackie Craig, Andrea Bybee and Sean Bybee. He will be remembered and missed dearly.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the Salvation Army Chapel at 1491 Contra Costa Street in Seaside, CA on September 30th, 2023 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. All who knew him are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations made to your local animal shelter in Robert’s name are appreciated.
