

Robert "Bob" Hulsey, a 53-year resident of Santa Cruz County, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 28, 2015. He was born on Sept. 11, 1935 in Leadwood, Missouri to Carl & Alberta Hulsey and moved to California in High School. Bob was accepted into the Missouri School of Mines and then transferred to Fresno State and graduated with a degree in Criminology. He worked for Santa Cruz Co. in the Probation Dept. as an investigator, juvenile officer and adult supervisor. He helped write the manual for the new computer system & started the volunteer program for the Probation Dept. He taught Sunday School for many years & then became the Sunday School Superintendent at the Evangelical Free Church in Felton. For the last 20 years, his home church was Twin Lakes in Aptos. His favorite sport of all time was baseball & he was a beloved Cardinals Fan although he also had a special place in his heart for the Giants. Bob is survived by his lovely wife of 52 years, Arleen (Lopez) and his daughters, Colette (Rick) Schaefer and Jenny (Wayne) Bechtle. Undeniably, he loved his grandchildren: Crystal & Chad Schaefer and Blake & Nikiya Bechtle. He is also survived by his siblings, Vernon, Virgil and David Hulsey and Marilyn Blair. Bob was always there for anyone who needed help and many said he was the sweetest and funniest man they had ever met. Heartfelt thanks to family & friends who regularly visited him. Bob will be forever missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be at The Little Chapel by-the-Sea, 65 Asilomar Blvd., Pacific Grove this Saturday, October 3 from 11:30 am – 1:30 PM followed by burial at El Carmelo Cemetery, also in Pacific Grove. Come celebrate Bob's life on Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 PM at Tin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Dr. in Aptos.
