Hello, please accept my condolances. My father Frank Smyth of Dublin was a relative of Rose Marie and I know they corresponded from time to time. She gave my Dad a copy of the US branch of the Smyth (Smith) family tree  and when I read it I was fascinated to read of the members of the Smyth family who had settled in CA. I am sorry I never got to meet Rose and talk about family. May she rest in peace.

Grandma was simply the greatest!  She taught us so much... some broken italian and how to play poker, but most of all, the importance of one's family in life.  I'll forever miss you mama bird.  Your laugh will stay with me always.

For the laughter around the table and the quiet times by your fire,

For the surprise wedding shower you threw for us, making Becky feel so welcome into the family and the Monterey community,

For including us at so many fun PON dinners and events,

For entertaining us at the piano after serving your famous spaghetti,

For sharing your love of Italian music and John Wayne movies,

For always encouraging Becky to keep up with her painting, 

For encouraging all of us to keep doing what we love,

For being a wonderful Grandma (and the best “Mama Bird”) to MJ and Tom,

And for all the love and support you gave unconditionally over so many years,

I know Rose Marie will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. She's in good company now, though ... probably laughing and dancing with those who went before her and who were, no doubt, waiting for her when she arrived Home. Love you, Aunt Rosary!

I will never forget my visit to Monterey when I was 18.  I was suppose to go back to Philadelphia and Aunt Rosie talked me into staying a few more days. Of course I agreed quickly. We got on her Austin Healy and drove down the coast to San Luis Obispo to visit Mike at college. We had a great time and boy could she drive that car. I don't think I've seen Great Aunt Rose Marie since our family reunion at her house. I remember it because Great Uncle Joe changed shirts several times. All Phillies shirts. Our hearts and prayers to all.

Frank and I were once " the new kids on the block"-- your Mom and Dad treated us with GREAT kindness, help, and love. Your beautiful Mother and terrific Dad have been in our hearts for over thirty years-- we'll always love them.

As a young girl growing up in Pennsylvania, my Aunt Rose Marie from "exotic" California with her jet black hair, red lips, and sports car epitomized what is was to be cool. The fact that she painted some pretty decent paintings with a pallet knife merely increased my impressionability.  She was one of the few people who I did not mind calling me Gayleeeee.  Rest in peace!   Love, Gayleeeeeeeee

Yesterday Joe, Mike, Becky and I saw our first ever California Condors down the coast south of Big Sur.

We then read "American Indians have many legends based around this condor.  Some California Indian Groups believed the condor to be a messenger between earth and heaven, carrying the thoughts and prayers of the earthbound to their deceased loved ones as it flew high into the sky."

We all send our love and wishes for eternal peace to Rose Marie.  We will miss her always.

Rose Marie was beautiful!  I remember a time in our young married lives when we all lived with our in-laws on Roslyn Avenue in Glenside, PA.  A neighbor, Horace Camden, came over to meet RM and later said to Joe, "She is delightful"!  I will miss you Aunt Rosary, a name that Patty affectionately called her.  Love, Jean

Our hearts are heavy knowing that your mom has passed away. She was a great lady and never boring to be around. I have many fond recollections of things about her when we were little kids and of course visiting her later while in Monterey. Particularly, there is a vivid memory of her smiling face behind the wheel of the new Edsel. It was a toss-up whether the new car or your mom shined more! It was funny, because yesterday I had a strong pull to pick up the phone and check-in with her, but there was this 9 hour time difference thing. She had a good life and I pray that her soul is no longer weighted by all the pain and discomfort. God bless Rose Marie and you all.
