

Rose Marie Ansel, 90, died of natural causes on Thursday, September 6, 2012. Rose Marie was born and lived in the Monterey area all her life. She volunteered in various city government associations and founded the Parade of Nations in 1970 which celebrated the many ethnic cultures on the Monterey Peninsula.
Rose Marie was a descendant of the Conroy and Smith families originating from Ireland, and the A.P. Gianini family originating from Tuscany, Italy. Both families were early pioneers of California and the Monterey area.
Rose Marie is survived by her two sons, Joseph Jr. and Michael; and two grandsons. Her daughter, Marianne Lowry, died in 1969 and her husband, Joseph G. Ansel, passed away in 1997.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at The Paul Mortuary Chapel, 390 Lighthouse Avenue, Pacific Grove, CA 93950. A Memorial Service will take place at San Carlos Cathedral, Monday, September 17, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. with a reception to follow.
