When Videne was four years old, her family moved from Arkansas to California. In 1950, the family relocated from Oakland, California to Nevada City, California. Not long after, in 1952, Videne married and began raising a family of her own. She and her husband raised their four children in San Jose, California.
In March of 1969, the family moved to Monterey, California. She often said the move to was the best decision she ever made, as she cherished the town and living by the sea
That same year, Videne began working for McGraw-Hill Publishing, where she dedicated many years. She remained with the company until her retirement in 2004.
Videne was well known for her warmth and hospitality. She loved hosting gatherings in her home and bringing family and friends together. Though her home was small, it was always filled with laughter, conversation, and special memories. Everyone who visited her home left with a story to tell.
She also loved to travel and was fortunate to visit many places throughout the United States and abroad, including Europe and New Zealand. Videne had a genuine interest in people and truly enjoyed keeping in touch with those she met throughout her life. Including friends she went to work with. Even after many years apart they always made time for each other
One of Videne’s greatest passions was family history. She spent countless hours researching and documenting her ancestry, and connections so future generations would know their roots.
Videne was deeply loved by family and friends. Her kindness, curiosity about others, and welcoming spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
She had four children and a family that grew to include fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Videne will be missed, but her love and the memories she created will live on in her family. She also left behind a perfect driving record.
