

Bernard Steinweg, 90, of White Plains, NY, and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by love from his family on September 18, 2023 after a brief illness. He is survived by his treasured wife of 67 years, Betty Lynn (Frenkel), his sons Peter (Lanna) of Miramar FL, and David (Erica) of Shaker Heights OH, his dear grandchildren Joshua, Jordan and Sophie (to whom he will always be known as “Poppy,”) his sister, MaryAnn Fribourg of New York, NY, and his little doxie, Noodles.
Bernie was born in Dortmund Germany on May 24,1933 to Paul and Greta (Jacoby) Steinweg. He immigrated to the US in 1934, right before WWII, and grew up in Manhattan. He survived polio as a high school senior and graduated from Cornell University. He quickly embarked in a career in the grain business as an executive with the Continental Grain Company which took him across the world living in Paris, Milan, Buenos Aires, and Rio De Janeiro. He was a warm, thoughtful and generous man who was liked and admired by all who knew him. He was a passionate golfer, traveler, opera lover, NY sports fan, crossword puzzler and supporter of the arts. He often considered himself to be the luckiest man in the world. His greatest love was for his family by whom he will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service for Bernard will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM at IJ Morris at Star of David of the Palm Beaches, 9321 Memorial Park Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33412.
