Born March 20, 1919/ Passed away, suddenly, Friday, November 2, 2018- age 99 3/4- "4 months shy of his most precious and, important to him, hundredth birthday!."
He was preceded in death by his parents- Albert and Selma Lynn, his brother- Gerald Lynn, his wife of 67 years- Ruth Lynn.
He is survived by his son- Dr. Richard A. Lynn(Margrit) of Palm Beach, his daughter- Sandra Chestman(Harvey) of Boca Raton, 6 grandchildren- Daniel, Karen and Lauren and 3 Rabbi's- Adam(Shmuel), David(Dovid), Peter(Yosef). and 22 great-grandchildren.
He, along with his wife Ruth, were long time residents of Palm Beach since 1976. He was a unique example of living life to the fullest- having played tennis 3 days a week until just 2 years ago. He drove, until just 9 months ago, when, his son took the car away, for which he didn't speak to his son for 2 months!! He quickly adapted to Uber, Facebook, Netflix- you name it!!. He knew every restaurant in town. He was a proud Veteran of World War II, having served in The Coast Guard, transporting troops all over the world in both the European and Pacific fronts. He was part of a group of Veterans to go to Washington DC, on a special mission trip just 2 years ago. He loved Latin Music, loved going out to dinner and loved to travel. He and Ruth traveled around the world on 2 occasions in their years together. He had a special affinity for Palm Beach Synagogue, The Shul his son belongs to, and a deep fondness for his Rabbi, Rabbi Moshe Scheiner.
He literally had just moved into The Carlyle Independent Living in South Palm Beach this past Monday, after living independently at The Regency in Palm Beach since 2003. He had just had the limo service of The Carlyle take him to his daughter-in law's Salon, Salon Margrit, on Thursday to have a haircut and a manicure!!. He loved life- he thought he would live forever, and lived life as if he would. We could all take a lesson from his attitude towards living life to the fullest. It is fitting that he died on Shabbos- Parsha Chaya Sarah- where Avram Avenu(Abraham) passed away, having lived a "long life". Harold Lynn truly lived a long life.
He will be sorely missed by all that knew him. May his neshuma have an aliya in Gan Eden.
Internment was at Star of David/ I.J.Morris cemetery in West Palm Beach on Sunday, November 4- Rabbi Moshe Scheiner officiating.
