Harriet A. Belson

Harriet Ann (Halpert) Belson, born June 3, 1926, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Kalamazoo, MI, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Melvin Belson; mother of Adrienne “Andi” Taub, the late Douglas J. Belson and Steven A. Belson; mother-in-law of Sheldon J. Taub and the late Sally Rosenbloom Belson; grandmother of Alyson (Taub) Amerson, Jason S. Taub, Jaclyn E. Belson and Carly M. Belson; great grandmother of Hadley Taub, Ansley Taub, Judah Amerson and Ophelia Amerson; and the cherished daughter of the late Agnes and Isadore Halpert.

Harriet earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and Master of Arts in Teaching in Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University. She met the love of her life, Melvin “Mel” Belson of Chicago, IL, at the University of Michigan, and shortly thereafter they were married until Mel’s death in 2015. They resided in Kalamazoo after their marriage and then moved to Bloomfield Hills, MI, where Harriet worked as a reading specialist for the Bloomfield Hills School District for more than 20 years before retiring to Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Harriet will be forever missed but never forgotten, and will live in our hearts forever.

A Funeral service for Harriet will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m., at I.J. Morris at Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches, 9321 Memorial Park Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33412. Committal service from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. Shiva shall be held immediately following the committal service at Cypress Island Clubhouse, 2779 Cypress Island Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410.
