Born August 19th, 1932 in Bronx, New York, he grew up in New Hyde Park, NY. He earned his BA from Adelphi University and his Master’s in Education from Hofstra University. Marvin worked as a teacher and then a guidance counselor in the Sewanhaka School District for over 30 years. He was instrumental in implementing Elmont’s Title 1 program and was dedicated to serving the needs of disadvantaged students. His passions included the New York Yankees, tennis, history, dogs and, mostly, his beloved family. He served as a medic in Germany during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Arlene (Hochstein) Goldsmith; his daughters Donna Goldsmith, Mindi Rosenthal (Howard) and Amy Rubel (Jon), his grandchildren Jordyn Rosenthal and Joshua Rubel and his sister, Muriel Goldsmith.
