Stanley was born on February 10, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the second child of William and Jean Smith.
He began a career as a draftsman with Universal Builders Supply in Red Hook, New York. He later became a member of the sales staff. He and Barbara married in 1961 and moved to Forest Hills, New York.
After Universal, in September, 1978, Stan went went on to become a member of the national sales team at Anthes Equipment, and the family moved to Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
In 1981, the family relocated to Columbia, Maryland when Stan met Tom Fahey and Terry O'Donnell and became a partner with them in Eastern Forms, Inc., a building supply company in the concrete construction industry located in Baltimore, Maryland, which later relocated to College Park, Maryland.
In approximately 2000, Stan retired from Eastern Forms and moved to Boynton Beach, Florida.
Stan loved his wife, Barbara, his children, Michael (Julianne) Smith and Rhonda (Dean) Combs, and his grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Adam Smith, Ava Smith and Jessica Combs. His true joy in life came from his grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed hearing about Aaron's music, Adam's writing, Ava's volleyball and Jessica's soccer. He received endless happiness hearing about each of their activities and seeing and speaking to them as often as possible. A highlight of his time with the family was the two weeks he was able to spend with them celebrating his and Barbara's 50th Anniversary cruising the Mediterranean with stops in Italy, Greece, Israel and Turkey.
Though he wasn't much of a sportsman and spent a great deal of time on the road, he became Michael's Little League baseball coach in Forest Hills. He and Michael both cherished that time together.
Many great memories were made during the many years the family spent summers at Woodland Bungalow Colony in the Catskill Mountains in Woodbourne, New York. So loved was that time in the family's life that although they stopped going to Woodland's after the 1978 season, they still fondly reminisce about it to this day.
He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and was looking forward to Jessica's upcoming Bat Mitzvah in March 2017.
