

Albert Earl Paul was born in Newburgh, Indiana on July 2, 1924 to Howard Summers Paul and Matilda Anna McKain, the fourth of six children. He was preceded in death by Howard, Elma, Earnest and Marion and is survived by his youngest sister Anna May Pennington of Waynesville, Missouri. He grew up in and around Newburgh on a farm doing chores and enjoying the freedom of rural life. He told stories of snipe hunting, waking up in his attic room with snow blown in around the windows and playing and fighting with his brothers and sister Elma.Albert went to a one room country school until the 5th grade then rode the bus to Newburgh schools. When he was seventeen he talked his parents into signing for him to join the Navy, July 29, 1941 just over four months before the beginning of WW2. He went to Detroit for training as a machinist mate. He served on a mine sweep in both the Atlantic and the Pacific escorting convoys. He told of ships that were sunk and the devastation that he saw. He loved the country he fought for. He was apprenticed by his father as a carpenter, drove trucks and had other jobs before becoming an electrician in 1960 while working in the copper mine in Ajo, Arizona. In 1967 he moved to Houston, Texas where he worked as an electrician through the IBEW Union for L.E. Meyers and later Dacon. He retired in 1989. He married Mildred Eileen Chapman on May 26, 1944. They have six children. Larry Earl deceased (Patricia), Ronald Louis (Debra), Jayne Eileen (Samuel), Dorothy Ann (Raymond), Pamela Sue, and Lawannah Kaye (Carl). He leaves fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.Albert Paul worked hard and faithfully to provide for his family sacrificing his needs for them when times were hard. We always knew we could come home and would never go hungry no matter how old we were.Albert was the Assistant Pastor and helped build the Full Gospel Mission in Chandler, Indiana. Over the years was active in various churches. At the time of his death he was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Pasadena, Texas.After retiring he enjoyed hunting with his sons, he did carpentry projects for his church and made numerous woodwork projects as gifts for his wife, children and grandchildren. In his later years, Albert enjoyed helping to raise his grandchildren.Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 4-6 pm Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Grand View Funeral Home 8501 Spencer Highway in Pasadena, Texas. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home at 12 Noon on Monday, November 30. Interment will follow in Grand View Memorial Park.
