Betty Jo Ray

Betty was born on July 17, 1935 in Buffalo, Texas, she was the only daughter of Samuel Alphese Wood and her dear mother Luella Mae Waters-Wood.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving parents Sam and Luella Wood, her beloved husband of 46 years Lonnie Wayne Ray, her three brothers, Alvis Wood and wife Alyne, Danny Wood and wife Wanda, Sammy Wood, her son Tony Ray Barnett, two precious grandbabies Joshua Wayne Ray and Zachary Wayne Ray, son Ricky Ray of Cedar Park, Tx. and granddaughter Stephanie Millegan and her Uncle Floyd Waters of League City, Tx. and nephews Gary Wood and Michael Wood.

Betty is survived by her four children, Joe Barnett and wife Tammy of Huntsville, Tx, Pamela Hayes and husband Larry of Pearland, Tx, Ronald Ray and wife Dixie of Teague,Tx., and Bobby Ray and wife Hillary of Massena, NY., sister-in-law Sandra Wood of College Station, Tx., Uncle Wiley Eldon Waters and wife Eva of Athens, Tx, Aunt Charlene Waters of League City, Tx, fourteen grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There were two things that Betty loved first and foremost, and that was God and her family, and her favorite role in life was being a grandmother and great-grandmother to her grandkids who called her "Nanny".

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lakehouse on Dixie for their loving kindness and care of our mother. Also to the staff, RN and CNAs of Houston Hospice for making her comfortable and loved, during her final days.

Betty was a great care giver and had a Heart of Gold, she will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life service will be held at Dignity Funeral Home in Pasadena on Friday, July 29,2022 with visitation starting at 9 am and service starting at 10 am with her Pastor Jim Overton officiating. Burial service will be in Buffalo, Tx at Siloam Cemetery.
