Grew up in the same neighborhood as Billy. We were outside all day long. I was gonna tell Mr. & Mrs. Rodgers that I was sorry for all the crazy stuff we did when we were kids, but you know what, NOT sorry. We had us some good times. Thank you for your friendship.

The world is now without one gentle, kind, loving, giant of a man as of Sunday morning, March, 31, 2019.   His name was Billy.  Billy taught us a lot, about being a man, about being a father, about being a son, a husband, and a friend.  He was larger than life itself.  He always lived life on his own terms, his way and no other.  He was fearless, courageous, a fighter to the very end.  It would have been easy to give up, given the adversity that he faced.  But God was good to Billy,  and kept him here, just as long as He could.  Billy fought to remain with us, nearly dying one day that I will never forget, when his sons found him unresponsive in his home when they returned from school.  Everyone raced to get to him, and somehow that day he survived, to receive, only a couple of months later, a great gift, a double transplant, from a the grieving parents of a 19 year old accident victim.  Billy continued to fight afterwards, to continue walking so that he could continue to take care of his family.  He never let anything stop him.  I am sure the only way that God could manage to bring him home was the way He did, arriving whilst Billy slept.  God knew Billy would tell Him "No" and fuss to stay.   But the Lord knew best, and called to him to come Home in Billy's dreams.  And Billy went.  

I will always remember the cook-offs, the Mardi Gras in Galveston, the parties at the house in Manvel.  Most of all I will remember Billy speaking to me through his beloved Denise, relaying a message.  He told her, "Tell Linda that she will never find Mr. Right, until she stops playing with Mr. Wrong."  I heard him.  I listened.  I stopped playing.  And my Max found me.  Mr. Right found me.  I will always remember Billy for those words.  It was only a sentence.  But it changed my life.   Forever.  Thank you , Billy.  May you live forever in the Father's light and love.  Amen. 

Well you walked into my life through  our crazy girl. She was in love with you and you were head over hills for her. For the first time in her life she had met her equal on all grounds and the boys were getting a wonderful Dad. What she didn’t tell me was that I was going to love you like I love her. I’ll miss the hell you gave her and the keeping her on her toes, but most of all I’ll miss your sense of humor and the quiet man that I always knew was there when I needed him. I’ll love you to eternity my brother. Thanks for it all for loving them and making them all happy...Love you always  Shana Kaye

I am so sorry to hear about Billy. I am at a loss for words. When I saw the picture of Billy and Brittany today, the day she was born, I lost it. He was so proud.  That was the best day of my life. I pray for peace for the entire family. Love, Patricia
